Your body can actually make it if you have enough Iron, B1, B6, and the amino acids Lysine and Methionine along with enough Vitamin C. Without ALL of these ingredients in sufficient quantities, you are likely to be deficient in L-Carnitine unless you eat a lot of meats and other foods of animal origin. Symptoms of a deficiency are confusion, heart pain, muscle weakness and obesity. This product.....Acetyl L-Carnitine.... is the best form of carnitine since it is exactly like what the body makes. It is involved with carbohydrate and protein metabolism as well as the transport of fats into the mitochondria of every cell in the body so that these long chain fatty acids can be converted into energy. Thus it is thought to help with obesity and diabetes. It provides so many benefits that it's considered one of THE 'anti-aging' supplements. Brain levels of Carnitine decline with age.....in comes dementia and alzheimers! Intake of 500 to 2,500 mg per day in divided doses does not cause any negative side effects. It's just a magnificent supplement if you buy the all natural 'Acetyl L' form of carnitine. When Amazon has their sale on grocery products, their price for this item is quite good.

By Peter F. Kubicki It gives me energy, but not like caffeine, and helps me stay alert. If I take 750 mg at a time it makes me very sleepy, however. So, I take no more than 500 mg 3x a day.

By Orgainc mama-san These supplements are pretty strong so I have to divide them into fourhts for my husband. I use the veggies caps which I purchased from here and just make 4 equal smaller doses. Keeps my husbands mood well and helps with energy.
