Acetyl-L-Carnitine is a more bioavailable form of L-Carnitine, an amino acid found in high concentration in human brain, nerve, liver and sperm cells. As an antioxidant, Acetyl-L-Carnitine protects neurons from damage caused by superoxide radicals. Keep out of the reach of children. Dr. Oz recommended taking Carnitine with Vit C so I gave it a try. I love the energy! And supposedly it helps in the fat burning department too. And all natural. Can't go wrong here. Yippee!

Great for neurological healthJan 25, 2012
By Jodi-Hummingbird L Carnitine is essential for cardiac problems, but for neurological problems the form you need is Acetyl L Carnitine. Jarrow is a good quality brand too and I buy lots of their products.
Nutritionist Robert Crayhon, author of The Carnitine Miracle, explains that for neurological disorders it appears that acetyl L carnitine (ALC) is the best form of carnitine. ALC improves cognitive function and increases mitochondrial energy output (especially when combined with lipoic acid). Besides enhancing fatty acid transport and utilization, ALC also increases the density of neurotransmitter receptors, the levels of neurotransmitters such as acetylcholine and dopamine. It also reduces the accumulation of lipofuscin (a metabolic waste product related to lipid peroxidation, seen at particularly high levels in dementia), counteracts glycation and promotes melatonin production. Acetyl-l-carnitine also restores cortisol receptors, acts as an antioxidant and boosts the levels of glutathione and CoQ10.
Supplementation with ALC has been shown to reduce degenerative processes in the nervous system, and improve memory and learning ability. According to Nutritionist Robert Crayhon, `acetyl-l-carnitine qualifies as the superstar of neuroprotection.'
One side effect of acetyl L carnitine is vivid dreams, possibly due to increased melatonin production. Too much ALC can also cause neurological overstimulation for those with neurological diseases involving seizure states such as M.E. and so a small dose of just 500 mg is recommended. ALC is not recommended where seizure problems are severe.
ALC is one of the most important supplements to be taken after a stroke, to help speed recovery. For stroke patients, the recommended dosage is usually 1500 mg.
I take 500 mg of this product a day, along with some reduced lipoic acid, and it is good stuff!

Not to shabby!!Apr 21, 2012
By dayshnitzel After 2 months of being on this i have dropped 12 pounds of pure fat. I still drink atleast one night every weekend, so i know im not seeing as good of results as i possible could. But still this stuff works pretty decent. There is no such thing as a magic pill however, i still diet all throughout the week eating 6-8 small meals a day, mostley chicken, eggs, greens, vegies, and fish. Never go any longer than 3 hours in betweeen meals and eat atleaast 1.5 grams of protein pure pound of your bodyweight. with the exception of sat being my cheat day in which i partake in a little bit of boozing . Def recommend buying it, along with Zma, and Cla.. Good luck

Working greatMay 16, 2012
By Anna My husband has been taking these capsules for about 6 months now. I just bought this big bottle knowing that they are helping. Generally speaking I have noticed more energy in my husband especially at mid day. These capsules have helped him to become more active and establish a discipline in his food intake. He's lost some pounds too. It's working great. We did plenty of research before buying them. I would recommend anyone to do research as well.
