Alpha Lipoic Acid 300mg Time Release - 120 - Tablet
Description:
"Alpha-Lipoic Acid is a powerful antioxidant that is soluble in both fat and water. It directly recycles vitamin C and indirectly recycles vitamin E, providing additional antioxidant protection. It is also an important component in the energy production process in the cells. Alpha-lipoic acid is a coenzyme that assists in the conversion of pyruvate to acetyl-coA. Acetyl-coA is the beginning point for the Krebs cycle, one of the body's main energy production cycles, which produces the high-energy molecule ATP. Alpha-lipoic acid supports the immune system and also supports healthy liver function."

Wonderful for skinAug 23, 2011
By Jenn I used this product after picking it up at a local health food store. I originally bought it because I had heard all the benefits of using it for skin. I do notice it helps my skin appear healthier, I stopped breaking out as much and the fine line on my forehead is barely noticable anymore. When I ran out of this I bought the Vitamin Shoppe store brand alpha lipoic acid capsules a few weeks later because they were having a sale. I definitely noticed the effects were not nearly as good as this brand. I noticed improvements within days with this product and could not tell any significant difference with the Vitamin Shoppe brand. I also noticed my stretch marks started to fade to a white barely visible color (usually a light purple color) after only a few weeks of use! The only problem is that the results from this for the skin are not permanent. When you stop taking it you may start to notice your skin going back to it's old ways (acne, oily, less vibrant, etc) . I personally do not mind taking this for the rest of my life because it is cheap, healthy and best of all effective.

alpha lipoic acid--necessary supplement for meDec 17, 2009
By sookie jane The endocrinologist has me on this along with umpteen other supplements. This is a great product. The price is very reasonable. Source Naturals was on the recommended list. Quick delivery, reasonable prices, and quality product. It has saved me money because I was buying at the local health store, drug stores, and grocery stores. I buy several of the Source Naturals products at one time. I save time and money.

I started taking this in May - my resultsDec 13, 2010
By Robert Atchison I read about Alpha Lipoic Acid on Huffington. I had been having tingling in my feet (and other things) - that were indicators of diabetes. Since I started taking this in May all of the tingling stopped. It took a qweek then it was good for good... I also lost a lot of weight (I didn't realize this until everyone started telling me and I found my pants won't fit anymore) and I feel much better in general. I understand the timed release is the best.

Some of what ALA does in the body.Sep 30, 2011
By Joseph Crowe
"Trager® practitioner, woodworker, cyclist"
I am pleased with this product, though it's difficult to point to improvements related specifically to ALA due to the fact that I take a number of supplements every day. Here's how Donald Miller describes the actions of ALA.
"Sporting a sulfur-hydrogen (sulfhydryl) group and being soluble in both fat and water, ALA is one of the most powerful antioxidants in the body and a critical nutraceutical. In addition to its own work as an antioxidant, ALA restores the four other network antioxidants when oxidized (vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, and glutathione) back to their functional, reduced antioxidant state. ALA aids glucose entry into cells, improves insulin sensitivity, and reduces the risk of diabetes. It protects brain cells by blocking excitotoxicity, chelates (removes) mercury from the body, and reduces the risk of atherosclerosis. ALA also plays an integral role in producing the energy molecule adenosine triphosphate (ATP), feeding pyruvate from the glycolytic cycle into the Krebs cycle."
The price from Amazon via its associate business is quite good.

Good for diabetic neuropathyJun 14, 2011
By MarlowsMom My husband has had diabetes for over 25 years and his feet are starting to bother him. I read about Alpha Lipoic Acid and decided to let him try it. He says it has helped tremendously with his feet. They were starting to ache and tingle a bit, not severely, and if this helps we will continue with it. I just purchased the second bottle.
