5Simply amazingAug 16, 2005
By R. L. Kilmer
I was at a plastic surgeon's office one day, learning a technique in skin care. He told the patient that she needed to buy some of this "Arnica Montanicum" so that her bruising would resolve quickly. He told the next patient that if he used this orally BEFORE and AFTER surgery there was a good chance he would bruise less. I sort of stored the information away and later got a tube of it as a gel with a free little bottle of the pills in a gift pack.

AMAZING. Bruises that looked deep and purple, like blueberries at the crook of my arm, were just pale yellow and barely visible in 48 hours.

The next month, I tried the little pills, thinking they wouldn't really work as well. (I had given my gel to a friend with a huge, nasty bruise but knew I was going to have a horrible bruise after walking into the bureau. HARD.) I kept up the dosing as they taste just fine (little bits of sugar actually) and was amazed at how my muscle pain resolved quickly (I hadn't even counted on that) and I never did form a real bruise. As I take aspirin, I used to always have bruises all over me. I don't have a bruise on me today.

BTW, the surgery patient went back to her eye doctor and he said "Wow! You don't have a bruise on you. That's amazing."

She told him she took the Arnica and he smiled. Then he had to make the typical allopathic comment about "No controlled studies proving Arnica's utility."

Right, unless you count the 100 + years of Homeopathic experience with it. So patronizing, some of these guys.

The only reason, Mr. M.D., that there isn't a "controlled study", at least one you might have read, is that there isn't any huge money in it for the pharmaceutical giants.

So, this is not to be construed as medical advice, but if you would like to try something benign to avoid or treat bruising and pain, give it a try.

Remember to always tell your doctor and pharmacist about herbal or homeopathic meds!

4Safe, easy, effective!May 17, 2005

I had some bruising and swelling around my eyes. Taking the 30x 4 a day reduced the bruising so much that the staff at the doctor's office were amazed. Make sure to get the 30x potency and not the weaker 6x. They stopped selling the 30x at my local healthfood store and just the 6x so I was relieved to find it on amazon.com. I've recommended this stuff (and had it recommended to me by several people in San Diego) to many of my friends and acquaintances. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that it's a pain to take 4 tabs four times a day.. although easy, it's a lot of times to take something per day. If you have bruising, take it.. it's great stuff.

4Speedy healing for bruisingFeb 28, 2006
By Terri "Terri"
I was suggested to take this a few days before my breast reduction surgery and for ten days after to reduce swelling and bruising by many individuals on www.breasthealthonline.com.

Having been one week post op, I've been getting many compliments on how fast my bruising is going away. I still have swelling, but am not too suprised about that. I would recommend this for anyone going through surgery that envolves bruising post op.

They are very very small tablets you put under your tongue to dissolve four times a day (four tablets each time). Haven't had any side affects, only bruising that is going away easily!

5Healthy alternative to anti-imflammatoriesOct 14, 2007
By Francine Tepper "earth goddess"
Someone turned me on to Arnica more than 10 years ago when I was suffering from a severe flare-up of the tendinitis in my shoulder. I didn't want to take any more Aleve, because all that naproxsen sodium is bad for your body, but I was in severe pain and couldn't move my arm. I left the job site and went straight to a health food store and in 2 days, I was moving my arm better than I had since the injury 2 years prior. I started looking in homeopathy (which literally means "like with like", you treat a symptom with something, that in it's raw form, would cause the same symptom) and other natural remedies after that. Arnica Montana is used to help reduce swelling and inflammation (symptoms of excess blood flow to an area) and has become a staple in my medicine cabinet for any back or knee pain. I recommend it to EVERYONE! My son has used it when coming home from with pain from rough activities and just recently my 83 yr old mother took a very bad fall and her doctor recommended Arnica to help reduce the bruising and inflammation. Everyone should be using this product.

5It Works!Nov 16, 2008

I began taking Arnica Montana (4 pills, 4x a day) a few days before major surgery. Considering the extent of the surgery, there was virtually no bruising, even after the anesthesiologist told me that the IV he had placed in one vein prior to surgery was going to cause extensive bruising. It didn't! In fact, it was almost impossible to FIND the bruise. I can only attribute that to the Arnica Montana. I highly recommend it. It doesn't conflict with any meds the doctor might prescribe, and the medical community seems VERY well aware of, and very much in favor of, this product.
