Description:

Cinnamon, a staple ingredient in apple pie, has remained one of the world’s favorite spices throughout recorded history. The evergreen cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum verum), considered to be true cinnamon, is native to Sri Lanka. Chinese cinnamon (Cinnamomum cassia or Cinnamomum aromaticum), the cinnamon most commonly sold in the U.S., goes by the name “Cassia.” Usage of cinnamon in Chinese medicine is said to date back over 4,000 years.  Mentioned in the Bible, cinnamon was imported to Egypt and Europe from the Far East by 500 B.C.  In addition to its value as culinary spice, cinnamon has traditionally been utilized as a folk medicine for colds and minor digestive complaints. True cinnamon and cassia are very similar; cassia has a more pungent flavor. Cassia buds can be found in potpourri and used as a flavoring agent in sweets and beverages.1   Recent research has revealed that constituents in cinnamon bark called procyanidin Type-A polymers help maintain the body’s ability to metabolize glucose in a healthy way.*

2Didin't work for meOct 24, 2007
By calvinnme
I am diabetic and have since moved on to more potent medications to try and manage my disease, but I can tell you how this product effected me when I took it - not at all. For some strange reason - and remember everybody is different - this product had no effect on blood sugar control in my case whatsoever. This was not the case for straight ground cinnamon like you buy in the grocery store. It could drop my blood sugar like a rock. I've heard from others, who said that this product did work for them, that it has a very short shelf life and is much more susceptible to heat and humidity than straight cinnamon. Of course, your mileage may vary, and if you are having trouble with straight ground cinnamon, it might be worth a try.

Supposedly, the only real difference between cinnulin pf and ground cinnamon for people using it to help control their blood sugar is that cinnulin is water soluble and ground cinnamon is fat soluble. Thus some people who take ground cinnamon over long periods of time could have a buildup in their systems of the toxic elements that are unrelated to controlling blood sugar. Thus the advantage of cinnulin over cinnamon - but only if it actually works.

5Blood sugar reductionJul 09, 2007
By Kevin B. Dionne
After taking one bottle (60 caps) I have watched my blood sugar drop from 154 to 107 and I am going to the doctor tomorrow for follow up on blood work where I will be very interrested in seeing what my cholesterol is. I have been taking one cap at breakfast and one at dinner, per day, and the cinnulin PF seems to be controlling the blood sugar in the normal acceptable range. If this continues, I'm a happy guy.

2there is dose informationJan 12, 2008
By Sharp One "avid cooker"
The reviewer who said there is no information about the amount of cinnulin is wrong - - 125mg is printed very clearly at the bottom of the label. However, most studies of cinnulin use 500mg as the daily dose. So you would be taking four of these a day to reach the therapeutic level. That makes these expensive compared to other brands such as Olympian

5Doctor recommendedNov 12, 2011
By S. J. Eggenberger
These cinnamon tablets were recommended by my husbands Doctor
after regular cinnamon tablets gave my husband uncontrollable
diarrhea. He is taking them to help control his blood sugar, and
they do not cause any untoward side effects, and do help with the
blood sugar.
