4Vegetarian, non-dairy, gluten free, Protein sourceNov 02, 2010
By JuliaBird
I wanted a protein source which was also easy for me to digest - no simple task considering that I have celiac disease, lactose intolerance, and trouble digesting high fat foods. I wanted my protein to be as complete as possible so I decided on a combination of a pea protein I had already ordered and a rice protein supplement.

Many of the other rice proteins reviewed were described as bad tasting and gritty. This one is a fine powder, no gritty texture. The taste is strong and tastes a bit like raw flour. Not exactly tastey. Fortunately, since I'm using this in a protein blend, 1 part rice protein to 3 parts pea protein, its easey to cover up. I add the mix to hot cereal (gluten free corn grits) for breakfast. It's filling and gives me the energy to get through an eight hour work day, without lunch.

5Best Calorie/Grams of protien ration for the priceSep 15, 2010
By Chris
gram for gram the best price and low calorie/protein ration i've seen even compared to Whey and Soy *(milk based proteins). It even beats hemp protein IMO.
In my search for low cal protein this has been the BEST choice for those who are allergic to soy, or whey. And possibly the best choice if you are not allergic. (but do your own research first im not a pro.)

3It's so-so.Feb 08, 2011
By Katie Hop
It is definitely filling, but the texture is very grainy. It also has a very strong taste. I mixed it in smoothies with fruit, veggies, and almond milk, and it was still the dominant taste/texture. However, if you NEED rice protein, it's decent. Not fabulous, mind you, but decent.

4Grainy, but good for the $Oct 24, 2011
By Tommy T. Roddy
I purchased this as I wanted an alternative to whey protein. Though the amino acid profile is inferior to whey when it stands alone, if you have a reasonably balanced diet, this isn't so bad. Legumes are a significant part of my diet, so I've got the complementary protein thing covered.

I have to agree with the reviews that it's a bit grainy, but I've gotten used to it. Even after you fully mix it, it begins to settle, so it helps to give it an additional shake or two between gulps. I don't mind the taste at all and often drink it with just water in the morning, though if it's immediately after a workout, I add sugar. The scoop it comes with sucks, but I still have an old scoop from another protein mix that I saved. Despite these minor negatives, I give this a solid 4-stars. It's really affordable and isn't loaded with unnecessary additives.

I recently got back into lifting weights, jogging, and swimming. I started the program on whey protein, but around midway I switched to this one. I've continued to lose fat and gain a bit of muscle. As part of a balanced strength-training & cardio regimen, this protein powder has helped me fit back into clothes I couldn't wear for over 2 years!

3Great price and flavor, but gritty textureJun 09, 2011
By BWanta
I previously have used Jarrow brand brown rice protein, but thought I'd try Source Naturals given the great price on Amazon and positive reviews. Overall, I'm pleased with the product. However, it has a much more gritty constancy than other protein powders I have used. Still has a good flavor (as far as protein powders go), is easily digestible and vegan. Will probably go back to Jarrow next time though.
