EXCELLENT!!!!!Sep 21, 2005
By houdini I tried this product after suffering for years with recurrent UTI infections and repeatedly taking antibiotics. I finally went to the urologist and was prescribed medication that I had to take for 3 months straight. I was fine for a couple of years and than BAM!!! I got another one and wound up on antibiotics again!!! I began to search for a better alternative to antibiotics just in case I got another infection and I found D-Mannose by Solaray. Sure enough I began to feel the start of another infection and instead of running to the doctor I tried about 3 of these little miracle pills. It stopped the infection DEAD in its tracks!!! No antibiotics needed!!! If you suffer from re-current bladder infections than this product is a must!!! It works!!! No side effects or anything just pure relief in less than 4 hours!!!!

Warner I have been suffering from recurrent UTI's caused by sex for the past 6 months or so out of absolutely nowhere (I had been reguarly sexually active for about 8 months prior to my dreadful bout of UTI's). Anti-biotics were working, but at the price of my mental and physical health, and always resulted in a yeast infection (which is kind of counterproductive if you think about it).
Tired of feeling like a drone, I did my research and came across D-Mannose. Instead of ordering online, I went to my nearest natural foods store and bought this product. Needless to say, a huge weight has been lifted off of my shoulder. I take 2 capsules before sex (usually 1 or 2 hours before) and that's it! No follow up dosage! Only when I need it!
At this price, you can't beat it! And it doesn't mess with your body the way anti-biotics do!
Many swear by mixing the 100% powder without the Cran-Actin in your drink, but this is quicker and easier.
I am a believer now!

Another useful over-the-counter productNov 08, 2005
By Fred Camfield I talked to my urologist about this product after my niece said she used it to clear up bladder infections, and also a kidney infection. He said it can't hurt. He described it as a large molecule sugar which flushes out your system. It is not an antibiotic, it is more of an inhibitor that prevents infections or helps clear them out. It is worth a try if you are having trouble with urinary track infections. It seems to be of more interest to women than to men, but possibly some men would find it useful (particularly if undergoing treatment for prostate problems, or other problems requiring catheters).

I am a microbiologist so I tried to avoid antibiotics as much as I could, but unfortunately most of the time the only solution was antibiotics. I have tried to urinate before and after, to drink lots of water after...everything!!! Sometimes it worked sometimes it didn't... Sick of these UTIs, I did a search online for an alternative. I knew that cranberry was effective but didn't try because too much sugars in this juice BUT when I came across D-Mannose (sugar found in cranberry and other plants), that is mostly eliminated from your body in urine, then I gave it a try!!!
E. coli is responsible of 90% of UTIs, this bacteria can attach itself to the bladder thanks to her pili, and that's when the discomfort starts...
D-Mannose is a sugar that goes directly in the bladder and can attach itself to the pili of bacteria!!! Basically, if D-Mannose is present when the bacteria arrive, then they can't attach to the bladder but to the D-Mannose, and they are flushed out when urinating... If you take D-Mannose when you already have an infection, then the same thing happens...the D-Mannose attach to the bacteria (that's why it's important to wait for one or two hours before urinating), and they are flushed out when urinating!!! Also, I read a couple articles showing this in the scientific literature!
I had a UTI yesterday after intercourse, I took 2 capsules after and lots of water...The day after I took 6 capsules at 8am, at 12pm, at 7:00pm still with lots of water... In the afternoon, I felt it was working but at 9pm, it was worst... I was confused and upset!!! But I went online again and found out that when you take D-Mannose you need to let it in your body at least for one hour without drinking!!!! Here is my mistake!!! I was actully flushing it with all the water I drank all day! I also found out that the dose is important, between 3 to 5G!
So I took 10 capsules (5G) a 10pm, and didn't drink any water... After 1 hour, I felt the discomfort was going away... I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT!
I start drinking 2 hours later, and went to the bathroom, and checked my urine with MultiStix 10 SG strips, and SURPRISE: no more leucocytes, and way less blood!!! YES, THIS PRODUCT REALLY WORKS!!!! I LOVE IT!
I tested my urine again firt thing in the morning, and only some blood is present, so I took 6 capsules (3G) this morning, and will take 6 tomorrow also to make sure it's gone... but I can feel it is! I know by heart this awful feeling in your bladder, and now it's gone...I am fine! AWESOME!
Next time, I have sex, I will try to take 6 capsules before sex, and 6 after and we'll see...:-)
This product is a lifesaver for WOMEN!
I recommend it to anyone with UTI problems!

D-Mannose works!Jun 02, 2009
By Ewing fan I have had UTI's since childhood and several a year in adulthood. I began taking this product (D-Mannose with Cranactin by Solaray) about six months ago and I have to say it has been a miracle for me. I can't say enough about how it prevents UTI's, and I hated being on antibiotics or prophylactic antibiotic treatment.
Now I don't fear having a UTI at all. They are gone! I take two capsules daily with a glass of water and I never even feel the slightest twinge of a UTI. Before this product I often felt I was coming down with a bladder infection, having discomfort and slight burning pain and would reach for a Macrobid. No more!
I love this product! And absolutely no side effects for me. I would give this product 10 stars if I could.
