Wonderful ProductSep 28, 2009
By F. Little I love dandelion supplements and this is a great one. It's a great brand and it really helps. I have had a lot of issues with digestion, but this really helps me out. It helps me break down vegetables and I feel like it helps cleanse toxins out of my body. I feel better when I take this product, my skin is clearer and I just feel healthier.

PUPPPs Cure?! Kind of shocked, but I think this worked!Nov 14, 2011
By Nick This review is geared toward pregnant or postpartum women suffering from the dreaded PUPPPs pregnancy rash. I first got the rash in my last month of pregnancy, and was one of those rare cases where the rash lasted (and worsened) postpartum -- for over three months. As anyone with this rash can attest, it is brutal. The most intense itching you will ever experience. It started on my torso and thighs, and eventually radiated out to everywhere, sparing only my face, neck, feet, and hands. I scratched constantly, until I was covered in little scabs and ruined I don't know how many sets of sheets and pairs of cotton pants (the only thing I could wear) with blood stains. It was probably the most miserable part of the whole pregnancy experience (including a 30 hour labor), and was enough to make me strongly reconsider having additional babies. I cried on the phone to my mother. I cried to my husband. I cried while trying to breastfeed (holding a warm child against an itchy, burning stomach is not fun). You think I'm being dramatic, but really, it was that awful. I tried every cream and home remedy you can think of. I probably spent upwards of $200 trying everything I read on the internet, including the unconventional...grandpa's pine tar soap, diaper rash cream, baking soda and oatmeal pastes, etc, etc, etc. I finally went to the dermatologist, who prescribed 4 different kinds of topical treatments (prescription-strength itch creams and ointments, and a cooling spray) and a prescription strength antihistamine, none of which provided significant relief, let alone a cure. (PUPPPs is one of those treat-the-symptoms conditions that has no real cure -- you usually just have to wait it out.) By this point, the rash was so bad that I dreaded showering even in cold water because the water burned all the open sores. Went back to the dermatologist who put me on a two week taper course of prednisone. Over those two weeks, the prednisone cleared up the rash. I was cautiously optimistic that I was cured. Literally two days after I finished the prednisone, the rash began to reappear and radiate out from my torso.
Truly desperate at this point, I decided to give Dandelion Root a try. I'd read about it on all the PUPPPs on-line forums, but had a hard time believing it could actually work. But I figured I had nothing to lose, and the herb really couldn't do much harm since I was postpartum, so I ordered some, along with some Omega-3 DHA pills and some Nettle Leaf pills, which I'd read worked well in conjunction with the Dandelion Root. I started the recommended dose of Dandelion Root, and at first noticed NO CHANGE. But I kept with it, and about a week in, I thought I noticed a decrease in the severity of the itchiness. After two weeks, the rash was noticeably better, and seemed to be retreating from the edges of my body inward, counter to the way it had spread. My calves and lower arms cleared first, then the tops of my thighs and upper arms began to improve. Today (about 4 weeks after I started), the rash is pretty much gone. My torso is still mildly itchy, but the underlying rash is gone. I can leave the house! I can wear jeans! I can sleep at night! My arms and legs are covered in tiny white scars where the rash existed, kind of like how your skin is discolored in patches for a time after a very bad sunburn. I'm hoping the scars will go away in time, though frankly, I don't really care. I'm just so relieved to be feeling almost completely normal again. I continue with the Dandelion Root (3 in the morning, 3 at night, per the recommended dose on the bottle), and I take an Omega-3 DHA pill each time as well. I'm not really sure the Nettle Leaf did anything (I didn't actually start taking it --2 pills 2x a day -- until about two weeks in, after the Dandelion Root had already started working), but I figured it couldn't hurt.
Was it the Dandelion Root that finally cured the PUPPPs, or had enough time passed for the rash to start going away on its own? Who knows. I do know that some women are unlucky enough to have this rash for upwards of a year, usually in conjunction with how long they breastfeed. My recommendation is to TRY IT, even if you're a non-believer (as I was). From my research, it can't really do much harm (when you're postpartum, that is -- I'd probably think twice if I was pregnant), so why not give it a whirl. They say that Dandelion Root helps to cleanse the liver of toxins, and that rashes like PUPPPs are thought to be some kind of autoimmune response to pregnancy-related "toxins" (i.e. too much of certain hormones). So maybe that's how / why it works. Whatever the case may be, the rash is finally almost 100% gone. To fellow PUPPPs sufferers, good luck and hang in there! It WILL go away eventually.

Not as powerful as teaJun 20, 2010

I use this product as a diuretic but it is not as effective as the tea. You have to take 3 caps twice a day with food (food will help the drug absorbe quickly) and so far I have not felt a thing. The tea is much quicker and you can feel effects faster.

Dandelion Root a good thingNov 28, 2011
By Joee I take Dandelion Root for its nutritional properties, as well as cleansing the blood and the liver. Although there is no proof, it is believed to help protect a woman against breast cancer.

It's definitely helpingOct 17, 2011

I have definitely found that this has helped me control the water in my body. I got myself on subscribe and save so I never have to miss taking it. The recommended dosage is 3 capsules, however I find that if I take 3, I feel off and somewhat nauseous. I take 2 capsules twice a day and it's working. Every month I would retain water weight to the tune of 1-2 lbs during that time. This month I only retained 0.2 lbs!! Woo hoo!
