This is a very weak version of the originalNov 28, 2009

If you liked the original blend, you will not like this new, very weak, blend.

Background:
Sometime over 3 years ago, Twinnings silently, without any warning (to my knowledge), changed the formula for their Earl Grey Tea sold in the U.S. This change coincided with the change to the new packaging that now has the word "Classics" on it.

I ordered a good quantity (2 year supply) of this new packaged Earl Grey Tea from Amazon assuming that the formula had not changed. Of course, within a single cup of the new blend, I knew I had been fooled!!! The orginal version was a great tea, full of flavor and good wakeup punch. (OK, I was/am addicted to this tea. I admit it.) The new blend is *very* weak and just a ghost of the original blend. Capt. Picard would roll-over in his grave -- if he was dead and if he was actally a real person.

Now, I'm not the type to go writing to manufactures, but since I was so outraged that someone would mess around with "my tea!!!" and also by being "duped", I actually wrote to Twinning USA multiple times to urge them to change back or at least, keep the old blend on the market, but alas, to no avail.

BTW: The original blend is still available in Europe last time I checked. This makes too much sense to me: I can just imagine Twinnings US thinking: "People in the US wouldn't notice a tea blend change, let alone a good tea, if it sat in their laps and call them 'mama'."
