I bought my Ekotec toothbrush about a dozen years ago. I replace the head whenever I feel like it, and run the empty handle through the dishwasher every now and again.

The heads snap FIRMLY into place. You'll need a strong thumb to pop them out again (or maybe a pair of pliers would work), so this is a gift for your strapping teenager, not for someone whose arthritis has been acting up.

The other thing I value about this: The handle itself looks and feels and cleans and lasts like plastic -- but it's made of fully biodegradable cellulose.

I was thrilled to find a toothbrush with replaceable heads--so much less to throw in the landfill! I would, however, have liked the heads to have been a little bigger as these are almost child sized; thye still get the job done!
