1This product has a CA Prop 65 WarningOct 16, 2011
By Kathy "NagoyaSea"
I give this item zero stars. I bought a can of it for my son and a few days later he asked why I gave him food with a Prop 65 warning label on it. Who knew? Hidden, in extremely small print on the back of the can is a CA Prop 65 warning: "This product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."

It is the same warning we see now for some types of vinegars. The only difference is those labels are clearly visible in conspicuous places on the products. I don't care if this carries only the smallest trace amount of lead or whatever the offending chemical is. I won't buy this product again for my family. The fact that they didn't put the warning on the product in a clearly visible place you would see before purchasing it is disgusting. I purchased this product at a Henry's grocery.

My son also said this stuff tastes terrible compared to the other whey protein isolate products I have purchased.

5Good-tasting, Good-for-you Whey and Greens SupplementJun 26, 2008
By eagletwo
Everyone's entitled to their opinion, but I think a previous reviewer was a bit over-the-top with their description of how much they hated this product. Anything with spirulina in it is going to get a bit goopy, but that just comes with the territory. This combination of high-quality whey isolates and "green foods" is a definite winner; it mixes best with very cold water and could be seen as a good jumpstart to your morning, prior to any "heavy" breakfast. 22 grams of whey protein per serving, MCTs to augment the mix, and a decent dose of stevia as a sweetener keep Greens & Whey well near the top of my list of preferred supplements. Why someone would top oatmeal with a green superfood product is beyond me, though.

4Not as bad as others say....Feb 11, 2011
By A. GENTILE
Despite the radically negative reviews of practically every flavor of Greens & Whey, it's not that bad at all! I'm unsure what people are whining about but you have to remember what you're dealing with in the first place - green vegetables in the form of a "drinkable" replacement. That being said you're not going to end up with a shake that rivals something from Friendly's or Ben-n-Jerrys. Instead you have a drink that is not only nutritious but pretty damn good too! What I do is simply throw in an ice cube or two in the blender (for shake texture), flax seed (increase fiber), a little over a cup of water and finally about a tablespoon of organic cane sugar. Now I know what you're thinking - doesn't sugar negate the reason of having this drink in the first place? Lets be honest though - it will help with the flavor and it's only a tablespoon. Plus it's not like the sugar destroys the nutritional enzymes of green leafy vegetables. It's a tablespoon - get over it.

Again don't believe the hype. This is a good replacement for people like myself who can't eat green vegetables. Plus it doesn't look all disgusting either. Akin to a pistachio ice cream shake....enjoy.

4great product with horrible tasteJul 16, 2010
By Michael Anthony
I have used Optimum Whey protein powder for years and have always been pleased, but I liked what I read about the BioChem Greens & Whey (Vanilla) and tried it. I agree with other posters that the Vanilla flavor tastes horrible and leaves an unpleasant aftertaste. After the first time I tried it and basically had to force it down I was considering going to buy some more Optimum and try to give the BioChem away. But rather than get rid of an expensive and high quality protein just because of the taste I decided to try to mask the flavor.

What I found works best is to add a tablespoon or two of chocolate syrup to the powder in nonfat milk. This adds about 200 calories per serving, 100 for the milk and 100 for the syrup, so if you are really watching calories you need to keep this in mind. This is okay with me until I am finished with this container, but I will most likely go back to Optimum when the BioChem runs out.

4Benefits Outweight The TasteApr 18, 2010
By F. T. Zvovushe "frankz00"
I think people are being a little too oversensitive about the taste. First off, it's really not bad at all. And secondly, you're getting a nice set of nutrients with this blend. I take a variety of supplements so I can't say exactly which supplement contributes to what but I can say in the context of my overall profile, I am deriving benefit from my nutrition. I take this powder with Maca powder and milk and I find the taste quite pleasant. Ever since adding a shake to my morning regimen I can definitely not a marked improvement in my overall energy. Even if it did taste bad (which it doesn't), I wouldn't mind because I do feel great throughout the morning.
