By Raynebeaux Apparently, Benfotiamine is widely used in Europe for glucose control. My wife's numbers are looking very good. Additional benefit: She sleeps better since taking the Benfotiamine. Life Extension is one of the best names in the industry, and Amazon had the best price.

Benfotiamine works great for HIV-related peripheral neuropathyJul 05, 2011
By Michael David I purchased Mega Benfotiamine (250mg capsules) because I read that it helps to regrow damaged peripheral nerves. My peripheral neuropathy is HIV-related, not diabetic. Since I began taking 1 capsule daily 3.5 weeks ago my pain levels have dropped significantly. I've been taking 240mg OxyContin three times daily for the past 12 years due to the pain with 8mg Dilaudid an average of twice weekly for evening breakthrough pain. Since starting on Mega Benfotiamine I've reduced my OxyContin dosage 33% and I've only had to use Dilaudid once in 3.5 weeks. Great stuff and a great deal from Amazon.com. I plan to reorder as long as their price remains the lowest!

I have been using the 'Nerve Support Formula' for over 2 years now, when I knew that I needed to find a less costly formula for this important daily supplement. I researched the other options carefully and decided to try this brand, primarily based on the strength per capsule as well as the reduced cost per jar. I am very pleased with my choice and my results. Not only does it work well for my symptoms of diabetic peripheral neuropathy but it costs much less to use and I take fewer caps per day for my maintenance dosage. So, I'm saving money on both fronts-- less costly per jar, and fewer capsules taken per day to maintain the protection needed from peripheral neuropathy. Can Ease Nerve PainOct 17, 2011
By Spudman Benfotiamine is a synthetic form of thiamine (Vitamin B1) that has been used in Germany to treat peripheral neuropathy due to diabetes. When I first read about benfotiamine, I did some internet research and read numerous positive testimonials written by those who'd used the substance successfully.
My wife, who's suffered with nerve pain for many years after numerous back surgeries, decided to try benfotiamine to see if it would relieve her pain. She first tried another brand in a 150mg size and learned that two pills worked better than the 150mg dose. Switching to the Life Extension 250mg pill has worked out well for her. Before starting a regimen of benfotiamine, talk to your doctor and do some internet research as we did. It may not work for everyone, but for my wife it has resulted in some diminished pain.

I have advancing Neuropathy caused from having Polio as a child. I have tried various medicines through my Neurologist, which only made me feel doped up & foggy. Then I started doing some research on my own; and tried a few different Herbs. I stumbled across this form of Vitamin B that is used in Europe for Neuropathy in people with Diabetes/Aids/etc. What did I have to lose ?? I started with the 250 mg dose, and it has helped more than the other things I have tried in the past. It's not a cure, but for me...it has helped improve my quality of life. I will continue to do research and be an advocate for myself; if you don't look out for "you" who else will.
