I've got to say, this is excellent when mixed with a variety of foods, including warm soups (makes them creamy), and a variety of cold beverages. Can't cook with it, but it does add a nice change of pace to the sweetness of the flavored Syntrax, especially since I have to take a daily protein supplement.

By George C this is an expensive protein but if you're after really smooth taste its worth it. it tastes almost like regular milk.
i wish i could use only this protein all the time but unfortunately it is still a whey, or fast protein, and therefore not always appropriate. in fact this protein feels "extra" fast - it doesn't fill you up much at all. now sometimes this is good ( like in the morning, or after a workout ) but at other times ( like before bed ) i need a slower protein. i can only wish to someday find a a slow protein that tastes as good as this.
i was originally using the strawberry mousse flavor of nectar and blending it with real strawberries - it was to die for. but i wanted to avoid artificial colors, flavors and sweeteners so i switched to this "medical" or unflavored variety. i'm going to stick with the medical myself, but for those less concerned about chemicals in their food i recommend checking out the other products in the nectar lineup as well - especially the various "fruity" ones. it is when blended with fruits that nectar really stands out against other proteins.

Great idea, beware the taste when trying to use more than a scoopMay 10, 2010
By Winter Mistress Great, clean source of protein. I am a fan of the other Nectar products and use them regularly. I had high hopes for the medical as it offered me the opportunity to add it to beverages of my own taste preference; smoothies, low calorie drink powders, etc.
Make no mistake, this is a great product - like all products in the Nectar line, it dissolves beautifully in room temperature water (this is key - something most struggle with, as in if you try to dissolve it in icy cold water you will experience slight clumping) - to which I then add ice and other ingredients basis what ever it is I am using it for.
The only thing I have noticed with the Medical is that if you try to use 2 scoops to get to 20g of protein, you WILL get that chalky taste. Not a huge issue - but something to note.
I will definitely purchase again as I find it blends great into low cal/no sugar drinks like Hawaiian Punch, Crystal Light or even the low cal Vitamin Water. I use it regularly in my blueberry smoothie (water, frozen blueberries and Medical Nectar - sometimes a heap of Greek yogurt).
Will purchase again - just beware trying to push the amount due to the flavor intrusion.

Excellent product, but has a few drawbacksApr 01, 2011
By Nancy T I bought this so I can add the frozen fruit of my choice, and Davinci sugar free syrups etc without conflict of another flavor. It works better in milk or with a little yogurt than in water.
If you haven't tried Davinci syrups I HIGHLY recommend them. Amazon carries a wide variety, Davinci home site carries an amazing selection.

Syntrax Nectar unflavored takes more powder than the flavored ones to get the same amount of protein. I find it a bit chalky if use the recommended 2 scoups in 8oz of liquid. It also says not to use a liquid greater than 90 degrees or the protein will start to break down. I'm assuming that's because it's a purer, medical grade protein. But unless you like warm, not hot chocolate, not a good choice.
If you want smoothies, it will work well. I find my stick blender REALLY helps. It's a good way to add a lot of protein for a small amount of calories. It's been a regular part of my well balanced, but low calorie diet.. I've lost 95 lbs :)

By Micheline I am a fan of the Nectar product line. I don't like all the flavors. This one is supposed to have NO flavor. Well I can tell you that it does have a flavor but its easily masked by adding Crystal Lite, or just about anything else. I've also added it to other liquids such as beef or chicken broth without noticing any flavor difference. I do recommend this product.
