Prop 65 Warning for Healthy Skin and Hair Plus Nails Softgels!!!Feb 25, 2011
By Melanie I have been using a different brand of hair vitamins for the past year or so at the advice of my hair stylist because of some hair thinning at the temples. I recently ran out and decided to try a different brand. I bought a bottle of Healthy Skin and Hair Plus Nails by Irwin Naturals at a local vitamin store after reading reviews here on Amazon. When I got home, I took a closer look at the lable and that's when I saw the Prop 65 Warning. In case you're not familiar, here's more information on the warning:
"The following warning language is standard on products sold in California if they contain chemicals on the Proposition 65 list and the amount of exposure caused by the product is not within defined safety limits.
WARNING: This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.
The wording can be changed as necessary, so long as it communicates that the chemical in question is known to the state to cause cancer, or birth defects or other reproductive harm."
I would strongly advise AGAINST using this product for the reasons stated above. I'm going to return the one I bought and look for something that is (hopefully) healthy.

I've been using this product for about a month now and have definitely noticed my hair is growing faster and I have lot of new baby hair growing in too. My nails seems to be a bit stronger as well. I'm going to keep using it and see how it goes, but so far, so good.

By M. Lu I'm on my third bottle now. My friend suggested that I start taking hair/skin/nail supplements as part of my daily routine to help me get ready for my wedding.
I've noticed my nails are stronger and skin is less dry. Not sure about my hair since its usually thick and pretty healthy anyway. If it's any indication, my bangs that were a little too short a couple months ago from a styling debacle is now more than long enough by my wedding day (this Saturday). After I noticed that it was working, I made my fiance take it, too!
It's easy to take. I take one every day, instead of two per the directions. I took it under all sorts of conditions--with coffee, with water, on and empty stomach, right before bed (if I forgot to take it during the day), on soup diet, on fasting diet, on juice diet, on chocolate binge diet. It's probably because this is a softgel tablet. I didn't experience any nausea or upset stomach that normal chalky vitamins give me.
Note: Prices vary on Amazon. The last bottle I ordered was $13 and the very next day it was $10. Don't put them in your pocket to take later. If you forget and put your pants in the wash, you'll get gooey pockets.

I'm about six months into these and only after 4 months of 1 a day (note to self: read the label WITH glasses on) have I started taking the 2 a day. Even though I didn't take the full dose, my hair grows like a weed. My friends and co-workers are always asking me if I've had extensions. I even had one coworker reach up and tug my hair to see if it was really mine! If you EVER thought about giving hair vitamins a try, these are the ones. My nails have never been strong and now they are and they grow really fast as well. My skin? I'm 54 and all I wear is a little powdered blush and I get compliments on my skin all the time. I'm also very gluten intolerant and have no issues with these at all.
