100 mg of Resveratrol from 200 mg of knotweed extract per pillFeb 21, 2007
By Bart Motes By now we all have heard of the remarkable potential of resveratrol. If it lives up to the hype, it may be nothing short of a miracle drug. I've been doing a bit of research on the different brands, and this one, with its price to mg ratio and quality, seems to be among the best according to consensus. (I don't work for the company or own its stock--don't even know if its public or not.) Another brand that seems to get high marks is Nature's Way. I definitely recommend trying some form of resveratrol. I may be experiencing a placebo and its only one person's experience, but I feel good taking it.
This supplement, like most reservatrol supplements, contains a significant amount of emodin, which is known for its laxative effect. It seems to be increasingly well tolerated by the body as you continue to take it, so I recommend slowly ramping up your dosage. It seems like a dose of 500mg a day (5 of these pills) is what most people work themselves up to. I have been taking three or four pills for a few weeks and will go up to and level off at about five pills a day. Some swear by taking it on an empty stomach but that is a bit too strong for my taste. Why not take your resveratrol with dinner and a nice glass of wine? (Spacing out the pills over the course of a day may be advisable.)

This isn't the best deal on resveratrol on Amazon. And it is far from the most potent. However for a reasonable effective dose of resveratrol this is a solid deal, and price. Resveratrol is a well known and popular antioxidant that I have been taking for a couple of years now. Along with some other supplements and better living on my part I feel it has been very effective for me; in that I have not been sick in the least for a couple of years now. However the truly effective dose of resveratrol has always been the subject of debate. Some people feel that at least 500 mg a day is minimum, other say a 1000, or even more. It has always been my opinion that taking too much of anything like this only means that most of it will be lost in your next couple of trips to the bathroom. I have taken higher doses of resveratrol in the past, but have since moved down, (dosage wise that is) to this Country Life blend for the price, and the dose of 200 mg per capsule. And that is 200 mg of trans resveratrol, (pure resveratrol) per dose. Not all resveratrol products break down their dose into trans resveratrol. Avoid any that don't). Since taking one capsule twice a day now for close to 8 months, I still feel great, and confidant it was a smart move. The bottle suggests 1 capsule a day, but I prefer the 400 mg dose, and I still come out ahead for the price, and in purity. In conclusion, unless you are elderly or are unfortunate enough to have some ailments that tend to break down your immunity and need a more potent dose, I highly recommended this Country Life brand of resveratrol for its effectiveness, purity, and value. If you choose to take a dose of this twice a day like I do, this 120 count bottle will get you through 60 days. If you are younger or enjoy good health, take this at the recommended dose and help yourself stay that way through 4 full months. Either way I highly recommend this Country Life blend...

By Enrique J. Muttoni I am an engineer, not a doctor, so my opinion must be cautious. I must take an anticoagulant, for waht a blow on my hand resulted normally on a bruise. Now it doesn't happen, so I suppose the Resveratrol really improves the strength of capillaries, accomplishing at least one of the promoted effects. I qualified it only with 4 stars, because I have no way to check the antioxidant properties.

By ChristineInFlorida I'm 43, and began taking Resveratrol Plus in Oct '11. It's been approx 3 months of taking it and yesterday I went for my periodontal maintenance (I go every 3 months) and for the first time in several years my tartar was minimal and my gum pockets measurements for my molars actually improved. I realize if pockets measure 6 or more it can't be reversed. Mine were 4 and 5 and now are 3 and 4. Very pleased!
