Why use toner?Apr 26, 2011

Many people are unaware of the benefits of a good toner. As a cosmetologist (trained/licensed to do hair, skin, and nails) I can assure you toner is just as important as any other skin care step! A toner should be used after a cleanser, and before a moisturizer. When you cleanse, the cleanser is meant to disrupt the pH balance of your skin which helps dilate your pores in order to clean them out (this is also why you should cleanse with warm/hot water which helps open up pores, and rinse with cooler water which will help them contract again). A toner comes along behind the cleanser and restores a healthy pH balance to your skin, which not only makes your skin happy in general, but helps seal off pores which prevents germs, toxins, and dirt from getting in! (Meaning fewer breakouts, too!) Finally, you apply your moisturizer.
Burt's Bees makes wonderful skin care products! Since I started using exclusively Burt's Bees I've noticed my skin is dramatically healthier and I rarely get any blemishes. I also have very sensitive skin, Burt's Bees products are some of the most gentle I've ever used. (My face usually stings after cleansing when I apply moisturizer, not so with Burts.)
I love this toner! The rose scent is so refreshing and crisp. It's a great toner and great formula. This bottle may seem expensive, but like with all the other Burt's Bees products I've used - it will go a LONG way! I've been using this toner almost 5 months now on a daily basis, I apply with a cotton ball, and my bottle is just now getting down to the level of the word "Burt's". It's going to last me forever!
I highly recommend this product to be used in conjunction with the Burt's Bees orange cleanser & the Burt's Bees Radiance Day Lotion with SPF. My skin is so much happier since switching over to Burt's - I love this company!

A Wonderful TonerJan 13, 2004
This Toner is the only one I have found that actually does what it claims to do. After using this toner, my skin did feel refreshed, smoother, and tighter. Also, the toner did not leave a residue, cause breakouts, or dry skin like so many others seem to. I highly recommend this product.

By ms mary Why is it hard to find this Burt's Bees product? Maybe it doesn't sell because it says "for mature and sensitive skin" on the label, and who wants to be called "mature?" But even though it's often out of stock, it's worth the effort to search for it. This is an excellent toner that clears the skin and prepares it for moisturizer. Offsets the drying and dulling of winter weather. OK, I admit it, I'm "mature," at least on the surface, and this rosewater and glycerin is just right for my skin.

By Veritaserum Server I have sensitive skin but I also have oily skin so I often have to choose between which products I'm going to use that address each issue. Burt's Bees has toners for both so I tried this one first and it didn't agree with my oily skin at all.
It smells wonderful, absorbs easily into cotton balls (some face treatment liquids don't), feels wonderfully cool going on and it cleans off any and all dirt there might be--but that's where the benefits end. None of that is worth the sticky residue I'm left with that I can feel just sitting on my skin like a greasy sheet. It also made my lotions go on very poorly--after I was done my skin would feel sticky even after I put on face powder. Several hours into the day it would *still* be sticky--I use Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets and they would make a terrible smacking sound when I blotted them on my skin because the toner had left my face so sticky.
I'm too young to have mature skin so maybe that's really only who should use this product, or maybe it's just because my skin is oily. I find all the Burt's Bees products I've used are either great or not for me at all, so, I guess this one didn't agree with me.
Edited to add: I've used about a bottle and a half of Burt's Bees Garden Tomato Toner and I'd suggest that one for people like me with sensitive, oily skin. No lovely smell but oh well, it works great!

By B. Nelson Living in a very humid part of the country, my skin takes a beating! This product makes my skin feel wonderful! I've tried very expensive toners from high end department stores and NOTHING works as well as this product. I will use it as long as Burt keeps making it!!!
