I normally do not do testimonials, but I could not live with myself knowing that there may be others out there that this product could help and I did not let them know it. Also, it is another glaring example of why the medical profession needs tort reform. My personal brief story. .......I'm 71 year old male. Over the last couple of years arthritis pain in my knees and shoulder joints had gotten so bad that I would wake up a dozen times a night screaming in pain when ever I would change position. I could no longer walk any distance and had trouble walking up and down stairs. My Dr. simply recommended taking over the counter pain killers; Aleve, ibuprofen, etc. I tried most of the over the counter joint supplements. I was seriously looking into knee replacement. I was worried about the potential liver damage from continuing and increasing pain killer usage to mask the pain. I was skeptic when a friend recommended trying SAMe. I read up on SAMe and the fact it was an amino acid based product, which is key to tissue rebuilding, I thought I'd try it. I decided on taking 400mg twice a day. After taking the first 400 mg dose, and no pain killers; that first night I realized something positive was happening. Going to bed I felt a warmth in my knees and I only woke up 4 times in pain. The next night I woke up twice in pain, and the third night I slept through without waking up in pin for the first time in a couple of years. My body was craving the amino acid product it added to my system. I was soon able to walk longer distances. My body was healing itself. On my next visit to my Mayo Clinic Dr. I told him about the results fro using SAMe. He just smiled and said it was a good product. I asked him why he did not recommend it, since it has been widely used in Europe for years. He said because it had not gone through all the FDA drug testing and his fear of being sued my some ambulance chasing lawyer. It probably never will go through all the FDA testing because it is so widely available and cheap. I've been taking it now for several months and it has given me back my quality of life. My knees are nearly fully healed, I'm back on my exercise bike, I do not wake up in pain, and I don't take any pain killers. I'm no longer even thinking about joint replacement. I don't know if it will work for you, but it has for me. Plus, I do think it has a very nice mild mood calming effect. Good luck. And let's push for medical tort reform so Dr.'s can be Dr.'s again without living in fear of being sued and driven out of their chosen profession.

By varnav SAMe is a great antidepressant. It gives energy and motivation, has no side effects (for me), is cheaper that prescription antidepressants and is available over-the-counter.

By moose I purchased this because of its lower price, and as another reviewer alerted, I believe the quality is dubious. I have taken various brands of 400mg Same-E: Jarrow, NowFoods, Source Naturals, NatureMade, as well as others over the years. This brand seemed to have barely any discernible affect whatsoever, over taking nothing. The price is very cheap, but I really question whether it is truly 400mg tablets, or even 200. Its potency is definitely questionable at the least.
It is a bit pricey, but I find Jarrow 400mg to be of excellent quality and if I cant find that, ill get Source Natural. I would not recommend this brand. For anyone of those who purchased this and gave it excellent reviews, I suggest you try a different brand and then compare your experience.
I cannot rule out if my package was part of a bad lot of pills, but I really felt as if I had to take 3 of these pills to get the same affect of most others I noted.

I've been taking SAM-E for several years and since it's somewhat pricey, I decided to give the Doctor's brand a try. I was disappointed, it did not provide results anything near what NatureMade's does or NSI's SAM-E. Of the other two, I'd say NatureMade's does the best job for me. I feel a greater sense of well-being emotionally, feel less crabby is another way of putting it. I also notice when I take NatureMade's brand that I have vivid dreams. Those certainly aren't an objective of my taking SAM-E, but for me that's another sign that this product is actually getting in there and having an effect on me mentally.
As with any type of over-the-counter product, what works for some may or may not work for you. So, brand by brand experiences may vary.

I would recommend it for those looking at something besides a prescribed medication. it would be helpful to have the company give a little more information about how it is made, shelf life, etc....However, it seems to be a well made product.
