Long ago, Mr. He became lost in the forest where he ate only the root of a common vine. Years later, when he was reunited with his tribe, those who found him were astonished. The old man's hair had turned from white to black. Today, the root he ate bears his name, He Shou Wu (Old Mr. He) . In the West this root is known as polygoni multiflori or FoTi. Thicker hair for myself and my husbandOct 27, 2009

By cabby415 I have been taking Shu Wu Pian for many years due to thinning hair and premature grey hair. This stuff really works and I found Dr. Shen products (Yin Chiao kills the cold, yay) to be phenomenal in quality though a bit pricy compared to making a trip to the China town pharmacies. It takes several months not weeks as per the previous reviewer to notice a difference.

Top quality He shou wu to improve hair growthNov 11, 2011
By Sarah It is not necessary to take huge doses of this herb to improve hair growth. Even if I just take it once per day, my hair growth improves. I can see new hair growth at the hairline. It takes about a month. It is a good idea to take this herb long term. You could just take two tablets per day and notice a difference in hair growth. Your hair only grows 1/2 inch per month, so it takes time to see results.

By Sarah He shou wu is a classic Chinese herb to treat hair loss. It works by strengthening the kidney essence. This is a classic herb and is very effective. I have taken it on and off for years and when I take it, a month later I see new hair growth at my hairline.

"Wary Now"
I thought wow what a great thing. I can finally stop coloring my hair. Well, if it seems too good to be true, it probably is. I took it for a week and starting having severe stomach pains and diarrhea. I started checking into the side effects and found it can cause LIVER malfunction and failure if taken too long. The stomach pains and diarrhea were symptoms of the liver problems it was creating. I stopped using it. I started feeling better after a few days. I have not taken it since.
