Super Bio-Curcumin® 400 mg, 60 vegetarian capsules Curcumin was first used by Indians over 3000 years ago in traditional Ayurvedic medicine. Modern science has found that this extract from the common spice turmeric has remarkable qualities as an antioxidant.82-84 Over time, as our cells continue to be affected by free radicals, or oxidants, organs begin to degenerate and aging accelerates. The body has built-in defense mechanisms to protect itself from free radical damage, but eventually, aging depletes the body’s ability to keep oxidants at bay. Curcumin can also help maintain normal healthy platelet function and the normal process of bile excretion.85-87 New studies have tied inflammation to overexpression of a protein molecule called nuclear factor-kappa beta (NFkB). NFkB acts like a switch to turn on genes that produce the body's inflammatory responses. Because NFkB's expression increases in aging adults, scientists have sought ways to modulate NFkB and its effects in the body. Curcumin has been shown to exert powerful effects within the body,109,110 Curcumin inhibits overexpression of NFkB and acts on substances that activate NFkB.* For example, by binding iron and copper in brain tissue, curcumin reduces NFkB activation. Curcumin's multifaceted effects include protecting against estrogen-mimicking chemicals, protecting against damaging free radicals, and promoting normal cell cycle growth.* The 100% natural curcuminoids complex in Super Bio-Curcumin® is a patent-pending synergistic blend of curcumin

WOW!!! Great Product!!!May 18, 2010
By D. Watson I've done a bit of reading on the wonderful qualities of curcumin. It does tend to be difficult to absorb so when I saw SUPER BIO CURCUMIN I thought I'd give it a try. Here's the thing. I have miserable menstrual cramps and if I don't take ibuprofen right away the pain just escalates and then I end up having to take much higher doses to break through the pain. I hate taking the stuff, it (advil) works but at a cost to your liver among other things. So felt the cramps coming on and thought I would try the curcumin. This is a risk for me, because if I don't get the pain under control quickly it's not good. And I've tried several natural remedies and supplements that just haven't been able to touch it. Anyway, took the curcumin. Laid down in a fetal position hoping to fall asleep to escape the pain and 20 minutes I'm laying there realizing NO MORE CRAMPS!! Pain is GONE!! I'm up, happy, and able to function. I'm astounded! I often get headaches with this time of the month too...can't wait to see how it works on those, if I even get any! Usually when I take the ibuprofen, it does help with the pain but I don't necessarily feel energetic in fact a bit fuzzy/groggy. Not the case with the Bio Curcumin. I feel great!
But aside from helping alleviate pain and inflammation it's is supposed to be great for immunity, fighting cancer (destroys cancer cells), arthritis, diabetes(also preventing), kidney issues, alzheimers, it's antiviral and antiparasitic, can help with Chronic Fatigue, bad cholesterol, Crohn's disease, cystic fibrosis, accelerates wound healing...enough reasons to feel good about it? Over 5000 papers have been written on this herb. It has been well researched.
It's non toxic and proven safe up to 8000 mg.
The warning label on the bottle does say not to take it if you have a biliary tract obstruction (bile duct) or if you are any kind of antiplatlet (blood thinningg) drug such as coumadin or warfarin. And it also warns that in high doses some indiviuals experence stomach upset.
I can't say enough good about it. I highly recommend it.

Love this productOct 03, 2011
By redrider and redridinghood I was diagnosed with end stage blood cancer (multiple myeloma) in 1996 and the Lord has seen to it that I have defied all the prognoses of the doctors, to their great joy. I have always chosen non-agressive and palliative treatments while waiting to heal ... and curcumin is high on my list. It not only helps with the constant pain, but has definitely helped me through many infections as well, including H1N1 with double atypical pneumonia, when my antibodies were nearly non-existant from the cancer med I was on. I am very grateful for the Lord's leading me to this product, as I can take much less than that of the C3 Complex I was taking before. Just two a day relieves most of my joint, bone, and muscle pain. I went a week without recently, when my order did not come in as I had hoped, and I certainly felt it! I highly recommend it to anyone with cancer, pain, those with frequent infections, and anyone who is looking for an alternative to meds that eat bone and are toxic to the liver and kidneys. Curcumin has even been shown in some medical studiies to restore bone, a huge issue with those of us with MM.

I've been taking this product for over six months and have noticed a significant improvement in my CRP levels, which are now near normal despite years of elevation. I'm hoping the trend continues.

Alternative use in this case.Oct 11, 2011
By Sean F. Keating I heard about curcumin on NPR's The Peoples' Pharmacy, as an anti-inflammatory supplement. Anecdotally, a listener mentioned its benefit for those with psoriasis. That's me. So, I ordered, took 3 per day and wow, what a difference! My situation has vastly improved, with almost all callous buildup gone, and no achy hands and knees (common in psoriatic arthritis). I have found that by bumping up or cutting back, the effect varies. Cutting back for several days actually meant no changes noticed for those 5 days, while bumping up actually made the redness of the plaque sites fade noticeably. Of course, discontinuing would probably mean a return to my previous condition (this is not a cure, but a treatment regimen). Very interesting, and the literature says people have been shown tolerant up to over 7000mg per day, without significant side effects. I absolutely will not take an immunosuppressor drug unless there is no alternative and I have lost almost all function. The risk of opportunistic infection is simply far too great, including vastly increased cancer risk. This product (there are many sources and strengths) seems to provide a great benefit. And, as a natural skeptic, I am fairly certain it is not placebo effect. Interestingly, curcumin is a constituent of Turmeric (the spice), which is very common in Indian cuisine. Studies have found a much lower rate if inflammatory disorders in India, with the most remarkable one being Alzheimer's. I recommend the Peoples' Pharmacy broadcast on this subject, available free at their website. I do not advocate curcumin as some sort of wonder drug, but it has had a noticeable benefit for me, for this particular inflammatory autoimmune disorder. I cannot say that this particular brand is superior to the exclusion of all others. I only know that this brand purports to achieve better absorption at a lower raw dose, something I though might be beneficial. I continue to reorder, as I am doing right now (3rd time). This may be one product I should consider for "subscription" order, which Amazon offers, and usually at a discount.

By Kitty I attended luncheon where one of the top researchers of dememtia {all types} was speaking. He recommended taking 2 of the capsules per day(1/morning---1/evening.} I have been taking them for about 6 months and I have noticed a some change in my memory and concentration. I intend to keep taking them.
