Vitamin K1 is obtained in the diet primarily from dark leafy vegetables (lettuce, spinach, and broccoli). Unfortunately, vitamin K1 is tightly bound to the chlorophyll in green plants, thus, aging humans are not always able to benefit from ingested K1-containing plants. While vitamin K1 is not absorbed particularly well from food, it is absorbed from supplements, provided that the supplements are taken with meals. Vitamin K2 (menaquinones) is found in meat, eggs, and dairy products and also made by bacteria in the human gut, which provides a certain amount of the human vitamin K requirement. Human studies show that vitamin K2 is absorbed up to ten times more than K1. Vitamin K2 remains biologically active in the body far longer than K1. For instance, K1 is rapidly cleared by the liver within eight hours, whereas measurable levels of K2 have been detected 72 hours after ingestion.2 Super K provides vitamin K1, and two forms of vitamin K2 known as menaquinone-4 and menaquinone-7. The menaquinone-7 form of vitamin K is not metabolized quickly by the liver, thereby making it available to provide a more consistent supply of vitamin K to the body.

Natto derivedFeb 25, 2011
By Suz Heads up for anyone who is soy or estrogen sensitive. I purchased this brand as it stated "contains No soybeans" and I am estrogen sensitive. After taking it for a little over a week I noticed continually worsening soreness and pain in my breasts. I contacted the manufacturer and was advised that one of the K2 ingredients did come from Natto (which comes from fermented soybeans) and would be a phytoestrogen. I am sure the product is great for anyone that is not estrogen sensitive. I did like the small size of the capsule. They were also very nice on the phone for advice. I did not buy this direct from their company and so cannot return it for a refund.

Have you started on the road to osteoporosis? Do you have trouble with taking calcium? This is a product that has no calcium, but if one takes it for a year, and has a Dexa scan to compare, will strengthen your bones without the dangers that calcium has for you personally. A cousin of mine took this for a year and her Dexa shows that her bones have strengthened. I have calcium absorption problems, so I ran to the computer and ordered these capsules. It's only a few weeks, so I'll have to order a few more jars, and see what happens after a year, but from what I've read, it should help a lot. The capsules are small, and taste sweet. That alone is an advantage!

Finally a vitamin supplement with NO additives, fillers, magnesium stearate, soy lecithin or other chemical by products. "LifeExtension" and "Pure Encapsulations" are the top two manufacturers on my list for "pure," high quality vitamin supplements.

By J. Oswald Dr Sinatra (cardiologist and author) calls this the most important Vitamin of the decade. It helps carry calcium out of the arteries (plaque) and into the bones and teeth.

By oklahoma transplant Life Extension Super K came highly recommeded by a very reliable source as a means to remove calcification from arteries. This is a high quality product at a reasonable price.
