Vegan Omega-3 DHA Softgels (Gelatin-free) Non-Animal Softgels DHA derived from Algae Vegan Society Certified DEVA Vegan Omega-3 DHA is a quality product derived from algae and packaged in non-animal softgels made from carrageenan andstarch. This makes an excellent alternative to fish oil and can be confidentlyused by vegetarians and vegans alike. Vegans are particularly prone to diets low in omega-3 fatty acids. DHA is a long chain polyunsaturated omega-3 oil. It is an essential fatty acid, meaning that the body doesn't produce it by itself and it must be obtained in the diet. It is known to be a major building block of human brain tissue and eye tissue, and studies have shown it may help cognition in Alzheimer's disease.1 In fact, the human brain consists of about sixty percent fat and essential fatty acids like DHA are vital to its structure and function. DHA has been found to be crucial to fetal brain development, as well as the brain development of infants and children. It is also known to affect the heart and enhance stroke volume and cardiac output during exercise.2 This is just one of many studies that have shown that it helps improve cardiovascular health* DHA has been found to also help cardiovascular health by reducing triglyceride levels and raising HDL (good) cholesterol levels.3 Un

5Absolutely Great!Aug 25, 2009
By catl0ver
Package arrived much faster than I expected. All the capsules were intact. No fishy smell. Really. Even my husband doesn't smell a thing. I was worried about GI upset, etc. (which I get with the fish ones). I take these and my vitamin with or immediately after a meal and I haven't noticed a thing! Great product, highly recommended. I plan to purchase more when these run out. This site has the best price too!

4better than other DHA capsulesJun 04, 2011
By Kin P. Lo
I tried Deva and Spring Valley and Natural Valley, and here are the differences between Deva and the other two brands:

1) Deva has a smaller capsule size, which is easier to swallow.
2) Deva has no smell at all, while Spring Valley has the strongest smell of a typical fish oil capsule.
3) Deva capsule is transparent, which makes me feel better when I take it as I can see what is inside. The other two brands have opaque purple capsule.

5Great vitamins!Mar 18, 2011
By Mathew S. Planchard "Matthew"
These are some of my absolute favorite vitamins, and one of the only really good sources for Vegan Omega 3 DHA. They smell kind of like algae, but that's what they're made of! They don't make your breath smell, which is definitely a plus, and they are well coated and easy to swallow.

5good alternativeFeb 10, 2011

My doctor recommended I take DHA while pregnant and continue while nursing. I have be vegan for 8 years and very glad they offered this alternative to the fish based products. My doctor was also happy with the product.

1poor service and dishonestFeb 08, 2011
By gujuchico
they told me that the product was in stock on the website and Amazon did not check that.

The product was sold out and when I called them, they said it was sold out "Right after I placed the order".

I still do not have my product. This is a unfair practice and Amazon cannot do anything either.
