5Excellent price, reputable provider, prompt deliveryJan 27, 2009
By Milton Hare "Sunlight-Vitamin D"
This Now formulation of higher-dose Vitamin D3 2000iu has been available recently for $3.99 which is the best price on the Internet. It is a small pill, easy to swallow. I buy this vitamin for my family, for coworkers and for homeless I help through my church. I encourage individuals to take it who have auto-immune diseases such high blood pressure, diabetes type 2, rheumatoid arthritis, COPD, congestive heart failure, tendinitis, gum disease, and, problems with infections, boils, etc. When they take it every day, their symptoms dramatically subside, and they generally become much more healthy. It is important to maintain adequate calcium, magnesium and zinc levels and you can buy a separate supplement that contains all three. I personally take 4,000 iu Vitamin D3 and only a third of my daily minimums in calcium, magnesium and zinc since I get most of these minerals from a healthy diet (whole grain, lots of greens, beans). Although the FDA some years ago set the high safe dose at 2,000 iu per day, most if not all recent research suggests that 4,000 iu of Vitamin D3 daily is completely safe. Not only that, many researchers believe 4,000 iu should be the RDA (recommended daily allowance) for adults for Vitamin D3 because the body actually uses this much if it's available. Many researchers feel children over two years can take 2,000 iu. Infants often need Vitamin D3 also. Nearly every cell in your body requires Vitamin D to differentiate into an adult cell. After taking Vitamin D3 at higher doses (2,000 to 4,000 iu) for three months you can get a 25(OH)D blood test to determine how close your blood levels are to the target level of 50-70 nanograms/milliliter. Based on that you can raise or lower your dose. Dark-skinned individuals and the elderly and obese may need to take higher doses to achieve that level. There is an excellent site on Vitamin D3 named WWW.VitaminDcouncil.org run by Dr. John Cannell, MD. It's a dependable source of information. Look at his page on "deficiency" to get a handle on dosage and testing.

5Great for SAD and Calcium MetabolismFeb 08, 2009
By Jo Ana Starr "Mind-Body-Spirit"
I've been taking D-3 for a week and I'm happy with it. Dr. Mehmet OZ has been on TV suggesting that folks consider this supplement so I tried it.

Although I'm in FL, I've lived in low level light areas for much of my life, and have experienced SAD many winters. I still work indoors so my exposure to daylight is still limited.

I've had some challenges with calcium metabolism and thyroid function, both of which this is purported to help. It also aids in breast health and bone density.

I'm on a double dose for this month and will cut back to a single soft gel next month. I like the product very much and would recommend it highly. Your doctor can do a simple blood test to let you know what your current levels are and make specific recommendations for you.

5It's a sunny day with this Vitamin D-3!Jun 23, 2011
By Hollee Saville "mommy, childcare provider, and more"
I started taking Vitamin D almost 6 years ago when I was pregnant with our first son. I purchased the Now D-3 almost 18 months ago and love the size, IU, and very reasonable price! I live in Minnesota where--unfortunately--the winters are long and we don't get outside as much as I'd like (and the sun tends to hide from the 10-degree temps). I NEED the supplement, as do most people since Vitamin D-deficiency is sadly prevalent and causes numerous problems (as scientists are discovering more now than ever). I feel healthy by taking this and get sick about twice a year; I'm sure the Vitamin D is the main reason as I'm around sick kids year-round (I do childcare). I don't know what more I can say other than I use several Now vitamins and am happy with their products and prices.

5Love These!Sep 23, 2010
By TYoung
I LOVE that these vitamin D-3 softgels are so small and don't have an overwhelming smell like some of the ones I have purchased before.
I will continue to purchase them!

5From 18 to 33+Dec 07, 2011
By C. Moore "VirtualMoore"
A blood test revealed that my Vit D3 index was 18. I started taking 2000IU NOW D3 and it was up to 33 in less than a year. My understanding is that anything above 30 is acceptable. There have been no side-effects of taking this supplement and I feel like I have more energy. I recommend NOW Supplements and I have no financial interest or other involvement in NOW. I found Amazon to be the cheapest price for NOW products.
